1986 4runner power steering gearbox

Hey everyone,

So I've started building on my 4runner a little bit but now I've run into the issue of not being able to find parts... the power steering gear box is leaking pretty bad out of the input seal but every time I order the seal from a local parts store it isn't the right outside diameter. Any ideas on where to shop or what I could use as a substitute? Any help is much appreciated.

If you have the old leaking one, you should be able to get a correct new one by measuring the old one.

Or alternately, by measuring the shaft, and the recess that holds the seal.

Quite possible someone put a different steering box in at one time.

Post up some pictures

Take your old seal to a local bearing and seal vendor.

Although some are lazy and don`t want to bother!!

I use Village Toyota for their excellent diagrams and cross reference to the Toyota part number then go to TPD to purchase. Prices are similar but Village Toyota's shipping is higher than TPD on most parts.
