Hey guys, I just recently had an issue to when I accelerate, the BRAKE light on my dash comes on on my 1991 toyota pickup. It only came on when I accelerated. But a few weeks later, the light wouldn't turn off. I searched this problem up and people said that it was an indication that my rear brakes where bad. It just stared squeaking, so I changed it. I replaced the drums, shoes, and most of the hardware. But when I released the parking brake, the light was still on. Anyone know anything about this? Thanks guys.

 

Master cylinder is full??

 

Ur front pads are prob just about done. The cylinders are taking a lot of brake fluid volume due to excessively worn pads. Check the pads, check the fluid level

 

I checked. It's right in the full mark.

Sounds like to me you have a bad switch in either the master cylinder or the emergency brake switch.

either one could always be in the closed position

pinched wire in either circuit would also cause the light to stay on. If it allows the the circuit to close

 

Do you know which one exactly to pinch?

 

Look under the dash and make sure the ebrake is engaging the switch to turn off the light. Mine sort of rotated and wasnt contacting the switch all the time. Light would go on and off while driving.

So I had this same problem with my 91 Pickup and I let it go on for far too long. Finally it became a problem where I stalled out and when I looked further into it, turns out it was the alternator along with a poor battery connection.
