22RE Cold Air Intake pros v cons Help

88 4Runner 22re. Thinking about adding a cold air intake to my runner. Is this a good idea? What are the pros and cons? Best product? Thanks!

You wont gain anything but noise with a aftermarket CAI. Save your money for something else

In my opinion, the best mod for 85-95 Trucks and 4runners is a good set of headers. You really wont see an difference with mods like that.

Unless you build your own to be a true Cold Air Intake they are most often worse then stock depending what climate you live in.

Now if you like to play in the water a real snorkel that pulls air from up around the roof is of help

your 22re 4runner should already have a cold air intake from the factory, it pulls air in from the high pressure area behind the front grill, outside of the engine compartment.

it's a plastic tube, that has the end bent over slightly, to keep direct airflow from being forced into the tube, and it's connected to the air box beneath the filter... i can't find a picture of it.
