Parking Brake

Parking Brake
1994 Toyota Pickup 4 cylinder 4x4.
Went to apply the parking brake today and I pulled it all the way out to the stop, twice as far as normal.
I've been under the truck and the cables are all intact.
I then adjusted the cables to take the slack out at the block by the gas tank
The brake now works a little but only just at the end of its travel only now there is no more adjustment available to take anymore slack out of the cables.
Are there any other points that the cables can be adjusted from?
Its strange because only 5 mins prior the hand brake was working fine.
Could there be a failure in one of the brake drums?
Thanks................

Both bell cranks are moving like they should ?? Both rear cables have the same tension??
Front cable about to break and holding only by a few strands which allowed the cable to stretch a few inches .
When you applied the Emergency Brake did you feel anything give as you pulled ??
Some place something broke or has come loose.
when you adjusted things was there more slack in the front or rear cable if you took notice.

Both Bell Cranks move freely as do the cables, no visible damaged to the front cable.
Granted some of the strands in the front cable could of parted, it does run freely through the outer cable.
As best as I can find is the drivers side bell crank has more play than the passengers
side.
I have the brake fully engaged the truck will not move, the passenger side bell crank
is fully retracted however the drivers side I can engage further by pulling the cable down.
So I've come to the conclusion there is most likely a problem in the drivers side rear hub.
Maybe need the shoes adjusting however I always thought they self adjusted.
Or maybe she's in need new shoes.
It will need to go into the garage for this as I've had surgery on my right hand so anything other than tightening a cable is out of the question.

Took off the rear hub and found that the Parking brake cable No.2 has snapped.
This is the part that attaches to the Bell Crank once inside the backing plate and to the
Bell Crank No.3.
Now I've spent the better part of 3hrs looking for the part online
Is the little cable known by any other name?

I was at Autozone the other day trying to track down a clip for an adjuster arm that wasn't included in the parts kit and the sales rep mentioned a second parts kit, perhaps your cable would be included in that? I wound up at NAPA for the clip so I never bought the second parts kit. They might have called it an adjuster kit.

I believe you want "Parking Brake Cable No. 2." http://personal.utulsa.edu/~nathan-b...tem/11-4wd.pdf Part No. 47617-35010
Brace yourself; it's no longer available! http://www.toyotapartsoverstock.com/...761735010.html
If it were mine, I'd invest $5 (plus shipping) for 46361-35100 . Wrong vehicle, but the picture looks very close. http://www.toyotapartsoverstock.com/...636135100.html And the "fitment" says it will fit your truck.

Toyota is good for having several part numbers for the same part for different years and vehicles.
