I've got an '88 pickup that I'm selling because the rear frame has rusted out. A friend wants to buy it because he drowned his '93 pickup. Any issues with transplanting the motor from the '88 into the '93? Thanks!

Both trucks are 4x4, blue and have manual transmissions.

 

bump, anyone know if the 3vze is a straight forward swap from a 1988 into a 1993?

 

I am in the middle of the very same swap. ..

short answer is: not really.

longer answer: if both vehicles are side by side it will be easier to do. Motor mounts are different, AC mount, wiring and sensors as well as the distrbutor/coil are all different... It is do-able but it is not a total plug-n-play swap.

I did the Swap the opposite way, but it was a 3.0 out of a T100 2wd. It is a lot of part swapping but is doable.

 

How did you address the different distributor drive support issue? Or did you change heads as well?
