quick question
this cop here on campus has a 94 4runner with 160k miles, about 40 on the engine (replaced with the recall) and is looking to sell for 1800. he said the insurance company totalled it for some reason, but it still runs fine...just needs a new bumper, headlights, and such. i think the radiator needs to be put back into position too. anyways, is this a good deal? he said i a salvage title is an option to make it street worthy..or something...any one know more about salvage titles..?

state laws are different;
salvage titles are issues when a unit is wrecked and cost more to the insurance company to repair than to replace,
If you buy a salvage unit, it can't be driven until repairs are made and is inspected by the state police.
then after inspection the titles in this state are marked as " previous salvage"
lot of people don't care for on resale day.
again, in this state, you must have all receipts of the parts and repairs presentable at inspection, they mainly check for stolen parts.
hope this helps,
