Brakes for 1990 Standard Bed pickup
The trusty Toyota has been running great so I haven't been here for a while, but I have a question about brakes.
I'm replacing the brakes on the 1990 pickup. It's a stock, standard, run of the mill 22RE mini pickup. I've been looking at Wagner ThermoQuiet semi-metallic brakes. They are a little better than OE level, but I live in the Cascade Mountains so I don't mind paying a few bucks extra for quality brakes. Anyone have experience with these brakes?
I might order them via eBay, carid.com or some other online retailer so I want to order the right ones. The choices are between 1/2 ton, 121.5" WB, w/DRW and 1 ton, 121.5" WB, w H/D brake. I'm guessing the 1/2 ton w/DRW is the extended cab and the 1 ton w H/D(heavy duty?) brakes is the standard model like I have. That sound right?
Heck, the semi-metallic brake pads for my mountain bike cost almost as much as the pads for the Toyota!

On GM vehicles I've tried several different brands including Reybestos Professional and Wagner. I didn't care for any of them because of excessive brake dust, noise, or poor performance.
The last time I did brakes on my El Camino I got Akebono and they seemed pretty good. Other than that I would have tried NAPA. I know, different vehicle bla bla, but the materials they are constructed of should be the same.
I'd try Akebono, Toyota (which might be Akebono) or whatever NAPA is calling their best.

I have pretty much just been using the Napa Ultra Premium Brake line.
Because it is easy and most are in stock or the next day.
When I do brakes every thing gets replaced with new makes the job so much easier.
