Replacing Rusted 99 4Runner Body Part - Don't Know What to Call It
Hello All
I'm brand new here. There has been rust accumulating on the left rear body panel above the left rear wheel (see attached picture). I have been looking at replacing it, but I don't know what the body part is called. Does anyone know what the panel is called and where I can buy it? I've tried rear quarter panel, quarter panel, rear side panel but to no avail.
Is it better to sandblast the rust out or replace the entire panel?
It's a 1999 Toyota 4Runner SR5 V6 AWD in dark green for reference.
The chrome trim on the wheel wells collects dirt which holds moisture and causes rust. Take the trim off. You are at a point where it is still easy to fix without welding a new quarter panel. Hit it with a wire wheel, prime and paint as Wyoming9 said. There are online sources for spray cans of factory matched paint.

it is not just the moulding , that causes this .. but also the inner tub . 2 steel parts together with no barrier . most I have seen are from the inside out .
replacing the steel with more steel is only a "band aid" .. (IMO) and will rust again . thing is , most people don't keep it that long to notice
