Question Bought a 4runner with a swapped motor, now need to replace the radiator

Just picked up my first ever vehicle, a 4x4 '92 4Runner. The previous owner swapped out the V6 for the 22re (at least I think it's the re, I know it's a 4 cylinder). The radiator has a small leak/corrosion at the top, and when I look into replacement radiators they specify whether they are for the 6 or 4 cylinder. So my question is, if I have the 6 cylinder truck, but with the 6 swapped out for a 4, which radiator do I need? (Not sure if the engine bays have different radiator mounts for the 4 vs the 6-cylinder versions). Thanks for the help!

either radiator will fit the truck, check for inlet/outlet for your engine.

i forget since it's been a couple years since i did my 4 to 6 cyl swap.

i think you will need the 4cyl radiator.

I think they are all the same

bottom left and top right outlets.

The radiator supports are the same.

If yours has only a small leak and is still the all metal style easy to solder it and be done.

unless your having overheating issues.

they are not the same

IIRC: V6 is 3-row, L4 is 2-row. The V6 is a bit taller and the top hoses come out at a slightly different angle. Both will fit. You can tell which you have by looking at hose connections in photos. I think the mounting holes are the same but I would search for "22RE V6 radiator swap" threads to confirm.

I would get the one that matches your fan shroud (and hoses) otherwise you'll need to replace those too.

PS. You should be able to tell what motor it is by looking at photos online! It's probably a 22RE, which will have the header and exhaust is on the driver's side; the newer 2.7L 2RZ/3RZ routes down the passenger side. Congratulations on not having a 3.slow!

You're sure it wasn't designed to be an extra capacity 22r/re radiator? You don't happen to have a part number you could provide for people wanting to make that swap do you?
