Today I bought a new to me 93 toyota pick up 4x4 sr5 V6 3.0 5 speed. I got it home and was doing a coolent flush, went to start it up to burp the cooling system, and wouldn't start. Not even a click. I turn the key and everything works but won't even click or turn over. If I bump start the truck it runs fine. I think the starter went out, but maybe there's a solenoid or something? I don't want to take the starter out of I don't have to. And the starter relay is fine. Maybe starter? Help guys.

 

Sounds like solenoid contacts in the starter.

Rig a jumper wire to the low-current connection on the starter. Connect to 12v; the starter should spin. If not, i'd pull it and put in the appropriate contacts kit.

 

Sounds like it also could be a poor ground.

Replacing the starter or contacts is a short term fix to things start to wear again back to the no crank condition.

I have never been able to hear a starter solenoid pull in unless it is on the bench.

Bottom line figure out the problem first.

 

I jump to 2 temanls I got it to turn over so I replaced the starter and still no crack or click.
I am going to check the ground now

 

Traced wires to ground chassis and motor have good grounds.
