Almost gave in to the Tacoma Temptation today

We were out looking at trucks today - my father in law wants a new farm truck. We were looking at Ford/Chevy Diesels, but then also looked at the Tundra and Titan.

During that time, I spied a Taco I could really be happy with. It was a dark red '04 double cab, 4x4 with e-locker. Used as a demo model, and only 5700 miles on it. Sale sticker said 23,499. I told the guy about the 4Runner, and he was very interested to look at it, saying they could give top dollar trade values. They find 4Runners sell like hotcakes and they would be glad to get one on the lot.

I'm not sure how much of that was a smokescreen. I didn't drive the 4Runner over there so he couldn't get a look at it anyway.

I guess we'll see, if I'm dreaming about Tacos tonight I just might have to pay them another visit.

I've done the same thing before and I was glad I kept the runner. I don't think I could part with the extra room I have.

Even considering a double cab? I didn't get in the back of the taco, but it seemed fairly close to the back space in the Runner.

To satisfy that same urge, I bought my wife the E-Locked 4x4 Tacoma. Now I can play with both trucks. Okay, it was her idea...

$23,500 just seems like a steal for an '04 with under 6000 miles. I've seen 02'-03' double cabs with over 15,000 miles go for alot more than that.

Looks like the going rate on the market seems to be around 26K
If you wait longer though I'm sure it'll drop some more after the 05 makes its debut.

EDIT:
Duh :pat:
I'm sure you already know that.
Sorry, my brain is still on weekend mode

I got my Limited d-cab for $23,900 with 13 mi. There's always room to go down in price.
