On my 86 Toyota truck 4x4 2.4 engine what's the best way to access the oil filter?

 

With your hands;-)

I just reach under the intake and unscrew it from there.

 

Reach in through the passenger side fender/wheelwell, easier if body lifted.

 

for mine the only way I can reach it on my 22re is from in front of the truck. you can see a hole the intake makes. reach into that hole, and hope who ever put the last one on didn't tighten it down too much.
On a 22r just about anywhere you are standing is fine. However I normally just unscrew it standing in the same place.

In the fender well there is an access panel... 4 ten mm bolts and it's off..your then staring the oil filter in the face...

That is a great way to access the starter as well...
