V-6 Parts vs. 4 Cyl. on 1988 4x4? (Differential & brakes!)

I am wondering what the difference is between a few parts on a V-6 truck vs. a 4 cyl. truck. First off, the rear differential. The V-6 truck that I have has an 8" 4.10 ratio, "4 pinion", and the 4 cyl. that I drive is an 8" 4.10 ratio, "2 Pinion". What is the difference? What does 4 pinion & 2 Pinion mean?? Would I be better off putting the V-6 differential in my 4 cyl?

1 more thing with a few questions. I have a V-6 brake booster and master cylinder also(from a parts truck). On the V-6 booster, it has 15/16 stamped on it. My 4 cyl. has 13/16 stamped on it. Would I be able to switch the boosters(better brakes, bigger master bore= more pressure able to be put to the slaves!)? I'm really wondering.
