Hello everyone. I have an 83 pickup with a 4 cylinder motor. Recently have had some transmission woes that has pushed me in the direction of a newer replacement. I am not doing my own work. We have done the conversion to a 1989 forerunner. Does anyone know anything about these transmissions? I know there were troubles with my original model but I'm curious about my "upgrade" . Any input would be appreciated.

If you're asking for experience with the 89 4Runner tranny (4 cylinder or 6?), I'd ask the people in that section of the forum, since they're the ones who have owned the trucks with that tranny.
