I'll trade you for my Warn 5000 lb winch...

LOL...that is pretty heavy, about 50 lbs heavier than a warn 8000lb winch. I'm sure you could sell or trade for a smaller one no problem. Or just run it, I got well over a hundred pounds of extra weight out on the front of my 4runner when you start adding the extra weight of my 302 V8, winch bumper, winch etc. Are you going to lift it, if so you might want to get some HD springs.

Low budget build if you have the winch why waste money on lockers??

Mount the winch in the bed and be done.

I could never see the idea of a winch on the front but to winch other vehicles out.

I suppose others like the idea of winching deeper into what ever they are stuck in

I live and hunt in a very remote area sometimes 100 mi from home for day trips ,yes there will often lots of miles the winch is just going for a ride .....but I could write a small book on the times my winches have been the only reason I haven't had to spend the night in the mountains ..enough times that it is one piece of equip I would not be without .....as well as a good shovel, jackall, and at least one set of chains.

Give me a Good Montana or Wyoming Horse any day.

Nothing wrong with a night in the woods on those cool -50 F nights if one has all the goodies where just driving to town can be an adventure

I agree is you got it why waste money unless you can work a good trade. Deep snow is exactly why I got a winch.

I mounted mine front. More options and better suited for the mountain trails. Mines a 9,000lb T-max. Seen a guy on pirate that did the mount to pull front or rear with one winch.

Might want to consider an inch adding an inch in height for front springs. 22RE is roughly 330lbs'ish ford 302 is 450lbs'ish, chevy 350 575lbs'ish so really not that big just by adding winch in comparison to a V8. Could consider moving battery to bed to help offset weight . I've seen post of guys said the TG HD springs were stiff so if you go with them you might not be happy. Better do lots of research.

Like mentioned with a winch who needs lockers, but I couldn't buy into that either

One can never have tooooo much winch. You've already got it, so why not keep it?

Funny how life goes ...I ran into a guy with a monster Ford with a new winch bumper ...and wanted a 12000 lb winch ..........so got enough to buy a brand new m8000...so things usually work out and this did but I like the input never the less...a guy has to be an opportunist sometimes.

That's a good reason to trade it out for sure.
