Speedometer sensor

Just had my motor rebuilt at a shop about 50 miles away. Truck runs like a top but I'm assuming he forgot to hook up the speed sensor as it's not working at all or the rotating numbers for the odometer. Is this thing gear driven or am I looking for electrical sensor and where would it be. Tranny or t case.

1992 pickup 4x4 22re 5speed base model

92 might have ether electric or cable drive.
But look for a wire or cable at the very back of the trans just before the driveshaft.

If you have a difital dash, you have a Gonkulator.

But if you have an "old school" dial speedometer, it is EITHER driven by a cable (mechanical internals) OR a stepping motor driven by the electronic sensor.

They both plug into the same place on the back of the transfer case, right side. But they look very different.

No I think I found it. Passenger side of tranny right before driveshaft. 2 wires on the plug going into sensor. One wire is broke almost at the connector. I had a shop rebuild my motor, I got it back missing the rubber fender skirt on the passenger side, a new dent on passenger side front quarter panel, speed sensor wire broke. I asked him to replace clutch/components since the engine was out. When I picked it up he forgot to ask for the money for the clutch parts ( I traded a 99 ranger for the engine rebuild). I'm kinda disappointed, I mean it's a 1992 Toyota pu but there's absolutely. I rust on it, it's in great shape and the paint is still shiny!
