we swapped and 89 22r motor out of a 2wd into my buddies 87 4wd that had a 22r in it with a cracked head. swapped oil pick up and oil pan over and dropped it in. i removed the distributor (dont recall why) and then remembered that the timing would now be off. so we pulled the valve cover, put engine at tdc, put the distributor back in with the rotor pointing at the #1 plug wire, put the cap back on and the valve cover, started it and it ran okay. mind you the motor ran perfect in the 89 that we pulled the motor from. he drove it for a day and then it started missing. checked the plugs, they looked and smelled fuel fouled. put new plugs in it, a buddy went through and rebuilt an old carb and installed it. the thing will not idle and still has a miss. we re timed it, check fuel filter, checked fuel lines, we cant figure it out. anything else i should check? the friend who rebuilt the carb is pretty good with these motors and stuff im pretty sure the carb is okay.
