Exclamation 1990 Toyota Pickup Won't stay in gear

I have a 4 cylinder 2.4L manual 1990 Toyota pickup that will not stay in second or third gear without being held into that gear. First fourth fifth and reverse work fine. I'm just looking for any tips or what I need to buy to fix it myself such as a rebuild kit or something along those lines.

If it is not the shifter bushing is the shifter real loose and sloppy ??

Then the bearings in the transmission are going out. The worn bearings allow the shaft to move just enough to pop out of gear.

My '91 R150 trans would jump out of first gear. Tried the marlin shifter seat&bushing and redline mt90 fluid. Helped a bit, but the reality was the trans had 270,xxx mi on it and was plain worn. You may have to find a replacement or rebuild.

My 89 was popping out of 3rd and 5th, new shifter bushing and seat cured the problem. Mine has 122,000 miles on it.

My truck has about 180,000 miles on it do you think I should try new bushing or a rebuild kit?
