What are radio options for a 83 pickup

What is everyone doing for a radio? I can get a used factory radio but I would rather have a better radio that will fit in the factory spot. I'm not a fan of putting it in the glovebox .

I asked similar question couple weeks ago. here is the thread:

DIN size radio can go above factory radio where the pocket is, with a little help. I would get spare dash piece to do this, also 83 plastic is different than 79-81 plastic bezel. So it may not go. It works in my 80, and there is a picture in the above thread. I wouldn't cut unless you have a spare, but that's just me.

I also have used a under dash radio box before, they are cheap, easy to install and easy to find on the internet. They look good. one of these would look good where center vents are. or under glove box. you can use one of these and not butcher your dash.

Center console box Schnayke suggest looks great, but I'm running bench seat.

I am going back to factory radio, and would offer my plastic that is cut, but its wrong for your truck. Let us know what you do.

I think a regular 2 shaft aftermarket radio will fit 82/83 models, I know 79/80 used smaller radio. Hard to find aftermarket 2 post radio's these days. Find you an old pioneer supertuner or something like that. Run new wires and don't cut anything!

Here's what I did on mine, I don't know if that's what you want exactly. It's a piece of plastic glued over the existing faceplate and cut out.
