2009 tacoma with 2.7 will not idle after battery disconnect
#1
two times iv'e had to disconnect my battery to do clean terminals and to hook up additional wires that went to my ham radios when the terminals are reconnected and tight .At start up the truck refuses to idle correctly I have to put the air conditioning on for 25 mins while running or truck dies out and wont idle right what gives...

The idle is about 500 rpm if you take your foot off gas it dies no check engine light I have to get one of those code checkers so I don't know whats going on have to run truck for 25 minutes on air conditioning then it goes back to normal idle near 900rpm's so what up I have no idea

I have ran across this issue many times with toyotas. Remove the intake tube from your throttle body and clean it well with throttle body cleaner, focus on the plate and where it seats. Reconnect everything, it will be difficult to start from the cleaner just hold the gas pedal down and crank until it starts. Let it idle a few minutes and after a short drive your issue will be gone! This has not failed me once. I'm assuming the ecm loses its learned values from being disconnected from the battery and the build up in the throttle body causes the ecm the read differently than it is expecting, that is just my theory though. Hopefully this info is not to late, good luck!
