87 toyota help
i Have an 87 toyota that for some reason the previous owner decided to rip the 4x4 gauge activation and reverse light harness out, the switches are still in the transmission and transfer case just no wires after that, what i need is a picture of what plug those wires go to the oem wire harness to i can make them work again

Have you checked that the switches indeed work??
the 4wd indicator is a light blue/ black stripe with the white/ black stripe wire
the reverse lights are a red wire and red with blue stripe
more then likely the plugs are grey just a guess

They both go to the N1 plug which is in the right kick panel look for the wire colors I gave you.
Depending on what trans you have it may be different
Then what engine you have also can make a difference

The harness plugs onto the switches those wires go up to behind the trim panel where they plug into another connector.
The N1 or N3 plug depending on what you have.
I would think the original wires are hanging or tied or taped up some place
Perhaps someone put in a clutch and was to lazy to unplug things and just cut them

Like this?

Both 4WD and back-up pigtails meet in a "Y" above the transmission and somewhere behind the starter, then the bundle goes up into the main harness right below the throttle body.
Peel insulation from the "Y" and find matching colors, Then verify by checking continuity with points in schematic.
Red is 12V from Engine fuse.
Check voltage there with IGN on and engine fuse INstalled. Should be 12v
Leave IGN ON. Check voltage with Engine fuse removed. Should be 0V.
The other wire from the the back-up switch (sorry, I don't have schematic handy) runs back into same "Y" and eventually to backup light "Positive" terminal. Check continuity between those two points.
Back-up light wiring takes +12V from engine fuse (15A)

1) The 4WD wires make one side of the "Y"
2) The back-up wires the second side ot the "Y"
3) (1) and (2) join to make the vertical side of the "Y"
Then it joins that cluster.
Makes sense?

A) Look at schematic,
B) Strip the loom,
C) Look for wires with colors matching pigtail from switches and schematic
D) Do voltage checks to verify you have the correct ones.
