I was thinking about doing a dual setup, but my plan was to mount the second battery to the frame under the bed

I used 84-88 pieces , as they are separate , as well as thinner .

I also build a FRP battery trey that is chemical resistant , including battery acid

in my 85, if I was to do it again I would mount the batteries on the passanger side. having the weight of 2 batteries plus the driver on the same side has given me quite the lean to the driver side.

I built my own battery tray out of small angle iron I bought at the hardware store. I cut my wheel well to make it fit low enough to close the hood. And installed the batteries at an angle to keep them out of the way. Dont angle them if you don't have agm batteries.

Using 84-88 tanks is the way to go. Probally get them for cheap at a salvage yard.
