'98 T-100 Swap Question

Hello Yota Tech community. Will a 2000 Toyota Tundra motor fit in a 1998 Toyota T-100?

What do you mean? The guy that I'm buying the motor from has the motor out of the truck already. Do I have to mod anything or will it just drop right in?

1st what motors are we talking about? If they are the same they should interchange with a few parts.

Ok yes we should back up a bit:

if its a 3.4L V6 it will physically fit however the harness may give you some problems. Considering it is the same motor and actually mechanically a similar truck the engine will fit no issue. About all I can think you will have issues with is the electrical IF your T100 has the same motor as the tundra.

If its the 4.7L V8 motor you got ALOT of work to do.

It's a 3.4 V6 that I have in right now with a blown head gasket. I want to swap it with the 2000 Tundra V6. What would I have to do with the harnesses for the swap to work?

You can use all the "soft" parts on the new motor. Unplug and plug back in. Easier said than done if you've never swapped motors before

The main thing you will have to change is the oil pan. The tundra has a drivers side front differential, and the t100 has a passenger side. I would take the new motor, strip the harness off, and install the T100 pan and harness. A few other things might need to be changed, like dipstick location and possibly the oil cooler.

And while you have the motor out, now would be a very good time to freshen it up. Replace the timing belt and water pump, replace the valve cover gaskets and spark plug seals, replace the rear main seal. It is much easier to do this now, with the engine out, than when it's installed in the truck.
