Alright so I got a 1987 4x4 pickup with an 86 22r engine swapped into it, the engine has around 130k miles. The original engine was a 22r aswell. So one day while leaving work it stopped running, pulled it to my house and started getting to work. Replaced the water pump, oil pump, adjusted the valves, new timing chain and guides, redid the timing, new gaskets all around, rebuilt my weber 38 dges, new belts, new gaskets for everything that was taken off. Got it all back together and noticed it didn't get any fuel so I replaced the fuel pump and filter which was the problem all along , at work spark and fuel are the first thing we check so I'm not sure why I forgot about it. Anyways it started after that, and sounded better then it has the entire time that I have owned it. Took it for a little test drive down to the park 6 blocks away, on the way it had more power then ever before. Killed it and checked the oil, white foam is all that was seen that night. Got it back to my house and tore it back apart the next day, poured 5 quarts of oil through the thing with the drain plug open and sprayed carb clean all over the head and timing cover etc, after the where taken off to try and stop the rust. The head gasket did not look blown to me but it will be replaced anyways and the head will be resurfaced. I also noticed that I had a pool of coolant in my cab on my passenger side. I feel like it was something very silly that caused this but more experienced advice would be awesome. Mind you, before owning this truck my mechanical skills where...lacking to say the least, I've owned it for about 5 month's and been able to drive it about 3 month's.

 

Your drain hole could be clogged in your evaporator causing water to build up if you have AC. Windshields are known to have rust issues causing water to get inside the cab. Heater core leaking possibly.

 

It hasn't rained in a while and the liquid was green so I'm pretty sure it was coolant, that would be a good guess though. I think the heater core is bad but I haven't gotten that far yet. Any ideas on to why the oil and coolant mixed? My first thought was head gasket but like I said before it didn't look blown.

 

It sounds as you did a top end rebuild. Did you have the head sent to the shop when you replaced your timing chain? I just got done doing a top end rebuild on a remanufactured motor. The head bolts were not as tight as they should of been is what I suspect caused it to fail.

 

Didn't pull the head the first time around. Only after we discovered the white foam in the oil did we pull it. Just did the timing etc, went down as far as the valve cover but yeah left the head.

 

I'm thinking maybe the front of the head gasket blew where it goes over the timing cover but it doesn't look too bad. I can post pics if need be.
