Popping sound coming from drive line.

I have a 95 4x4 extended cab pickup 3vze. I just replaced a rear u-joint. Put everything back together greased everything. Now I hear a popping sound coming from the drive line. Sounds like its near the rear end. I only hear it during acceleration from a stop and mostly when I'm turning the wheels like pulling out of my driveway. Also, at normal speed 55 and 60mph no noise or vibration everything seems fine. Noise was not there before I replaced the u-joint. The u-joint was completely trashed. I am just afraid my neglecting the u-joint has worn something else. I ran out of time and didn't get to check the rear end fluid or pull the slip yoke apart for a closer inspection. Any thoughts or ideas would be appreciated.

You may have crunched one of the needle bearings when you pressed the cap on. Just the grease keeps them from falling over when you have the caps off

I am going to go over everything one more time. Make sure everything's tight. Then I'll check the joint.
