2005 tacoma 2.7

I built a customers 2.7 tacoma and seem to have fuel issues. I can start the truck and as soon as I let off the key the truck dies. I can keep it running all day as long as I spray starting fluid in the intake. The truck has been sitting for at least 6 months. Is there a relearn or something I could possibly be missing?

Without the EWD for that year Truck I can only guess

Whatever relay or switch turns the fuel pump on you are only enabling the start side to work.

Pressure to start once that coil drops out the truck stalls. because the other one for the run side is not energized

I have not seen one that new so can`t say if this is controlled via a circuit opening relay or by the ecm.

starting issues

[QUis there a way to bypass this issue to get the car running. I hear the fuel pump has two grounds and one hot wire to it. I was thinking of grounding both to the frame and the a 12 volt key on hot to the fuel pump direct. Is this an option or not so much.OTE=wyoming9;52213580]Without the EWD for that year Truck I can only guess

You pretty much just plug your new ECM in I have only worked on the older ones..

I can`t see the newer ones would be different .

That will not fix your problem you need to figure out what is wrong or what you forgot to do.

Yeah I do understand what you're saying. I sort of don't know where to look or what to look for.

Find a copy of the FSM ( Factory Service Manual) with the Electrical wiring diagrams for your year truck. The diagnostics section alone is well worth it on these newer vehicles.

Not having this information is just guessing .

Have you tried using the search engine of your choice the vehicle and problem your having

If you don`t have a multimeter now is a good time to get one.

Could be as simple as a bad relay or poor connection.

Is there a story here with this truck your not telling ??

Just how did this whole job start?? Just what did you do??

Has this truck ever ran since you had it??

Good luck

From the beginning. A friend of mine towed his truck to my shop and wait while he was out of town his nephew borrowed the truck for a month. He don't know what happened but it was locked up when he returned to town. Truck sat at least 7 months. I get it tear down the engine, put new rings, surface the head, put it all together and then start it up. It starts for just a sec then shuts off sort of like a anti theft situation. I have noticed that the fuel pump does not have a 3 second burst when you first cycle the key and the pressure when I steady crank it is not really high the back to when it is being started it fires up and as soon as you let off the key it turns off. I even replaced the electrical section of the ignition and the fuel pump.
