Timing issue.. What distributor do I need?
After doing a timing chain job on my 87 22r with weber 32/36 carb I can't get it to run worth a crap. Well I noticed that the engine would not advance so if you set it at 5degrees btdc at idle then rev to 2k it is still only 5degrees advanced. Maybe my truck was an re that someone put a carbed engine in? The dizzy just has one green round plug no vacuum port . Can I just buy a vacuum advance distributor for this motor and swap them or no?

The question is - how was it runnning before the timing chain job? Are you sure the chain is on correct at TDC and distributor is not off a tooth? I have heard the Weber/22R combo likes a bit more timing than stock.
I have a 1984 with weber running 2.5 PSI on the fuel. It was running fine. Did a timing chain and now it is a bit sluggish under acceleration. I can set the dizzy and connect the 2 vacuum lines (one to Weber and one to manifold) and get advancement when engine is cold. Once it warms up the advancement stops. I believe that one of the diaphrams on the dizzy is shot. Im gonna try a new dizzy from Autozone with vacuum advance for $120.
Not sure if the 87 and 84 22r are different. LCE offers distributors for the 22R with and without vacuum advance, so I guess its just a preference depending on how you use your vehicle (street or offroad).
