General Wire Do's and Don'ts thread - post your tips and nightmares here
#1
Ok this thread kind of as a result of my latest hack wiring find on one of my trucks.
Many of you know I have found some real beauties on my 81 Trekker.
This latest one was found on my Dodge truck.
Went to hook up my camp trailer..lights were acting weird, kind of like the typical stuff you would find with a bad ground.
Bust out the meter and Digital multi meter and find no power to 3 out of the 7 plugs..
Great..
Tear into want on the surface looked the factory harness to find this hack job
I hate those crimp parasitic wire splice things with a passion. They cause nothing but problems. Do it right. Learn to solder. It is easy, than heat wrap your connections.
If you can't solder use quality butt connectors. If I have to use a butt connector I crimp it with a pair of visegrips.
Anyway feel free to post up your wiring tips here
And feel free to post up nightmares you have found on your truck.

I really would like to have the extra time to figure out just what idiot designed those Scotch Lok connectors that cause more grief and trouble.I fixed so many trucks that had trailer light plugs installed it seems that scotch -lok connectors were the favorite method.
Get them in and out the door fast someone else`s problem after the first winter.
Right there with using wire nuts with stranded wire.
I really am very poor at taking pictures as the internet has only been around a very small part of my life.
