I have been lurking the forums for a few years now but have never really posted much. I'm now finally deciding to do something with my 90 4runner 4wd. I've decided to put a 4.3 vortec in it. I bought a 95 blazer and pulled the engine and now need to know what wires on the engine harness are needed to be connected and to what to run. It's still connected to all sensors and everything including the PCM. I'm going to rebuild the entire harness to fit in the toy. Just need to know what's needed to be connected to power to run the engine and haven't found any info on it. Thanks in advance. Also expect a build log

 

I have one in my 92 4runner.
I started to do the wiring on my stock cpi harness and got mixed up on a few of the wires on the speed control box . Its a small box about the size of a box of cigarettes near the pcm. I ended up buying a painless harness . Very easy plug n play . Power , ground , and brake light . The dash gauges will be wired separate to the body kick panel plug on passenger side

 

A pre-made harness isn't going to be a thing in this build. I plan to build the harness. I'm not intimidated by wiring and can do just about anything with a soldering iron and a DMM. This is also going to be "kind of" budget buildin the sense it has no specific budget but i'm still going to try to keep things as inexpensive as possible while still being done correctly. This there for means a lot of work is going to be done by me. As for the harness I just need to know what wire does what and I can go from there. As for the speed control box I'm not sure what your talking about. The only other box I could find in the truck has to deal with air bags.

 

Better get a couple of schematics then lol.

 

If intimidation is not a factor then dig into it and solder it up!!!

My car has been having some issues lately and has priority so it's been stealing most of my money. As for right now I have the engine on a stand and running pretty decently. The next thing I'm going to do is disassemble some of the engine and replace a few parts and gaskets. Once it's all back together I'm going to really tear into the harness and ditch what I don't need and add what I do. Once I get done things done to it and start to accumulate some parts I'm going to start a build log. It's going to go a bit slow though as I need some new tools also. I'm going to be buying an engine lift tomorrow and a welder soon so I can get to the cool stuff.

 

For anybody that might be wondering. This project is not dead and is still slowly progressing. My car is finally reliable after $2,000 of parts and the holidays are finally over so now I actually have a bit more time and money to put into this. I still have a couple new tools that need to be bought which will be happening within the next couple weeks then new parts will finally start rolling in. And again as soon as it finally starts to take off I will start a build log and people can watch from there.
