I did 4.88s this spring in my v6 and my research concluded that motive gear was the cheapest gear and Japanese setup kit that was still highly recommended

How much was the install kit for front and rear? Do you have a link to this?

Getting a stock 4.88 front ifs diff is cheaper than regearing your front especially since it doesn't see the wear that rear diffs get. I got a used front diff for 300 bucks shipped from this site. You can't get a ring and pinion with a setup kit for that price. I added spartan lockers at the same time too. I had the rear built but did the front myself

I bought the ring and pinion from jegs for 170 and the setup kit for 200 from them with free shipping.

I thought about doing that. Any front diff from a 4 runner will work? I found one with an automatic disconnect the guy said I can just swap the axle stub from mine and it will work.

Also is the stock front diff from mine worth anything?

I believe the 3.0 auto 4wd 4runners. All 4.88's have ADD. Also note that the stock 4.88's are weaker than aftermarket 4.88's due to the off set. Can someone confirm if this applies to front 7.5 4.88's or just the rear 4.88's?

I found some on eBay for a good deal shipped they seem. I can also check some local junk yards. I just want to make sure the ADD will be able to be swapped with my Non ADD part from my diff now. 94 pickup 22re 5 speed I have

That only applies to rear stock gears not front.

Not all 4.88s are ADD either. I know this because I bought a non add diff with 4.88 gears and I bored out the carrier and pressed in the needle bearings to make it the same as the add axle. However, if you have a non add setup an add carrier will fit just fine. In fact you can use the non add in an add setup but you won't have the needle bearings which is better. I have a whole thread about this work.

Thanks for the quick responses. I know what I am doing for the front. Will a stock 4.88 rear diff from a 4 runner work with my pickup or no?

Apprently there might already be 4.88s in the truck that I was unaware about. Just checked by spinning the front driveshaft and looking at the axle. The driveshaft spins just under 5 times.

The trucks with 31" tires with autos got the 4:88. The rear third member is useless for an upgrade. It will only fit the stock 4:88. I don't think you can even put a locker in it, but am not sure of that.

Looked at ZUK's website last night. Gear installs.com he installed a supra limited slip in a factory 4.88 3rd. That would mean the carriers will swap over. So you can install a full locker or a lunch box locker in a factory 4.88 3rd.
