Donor truck 22r into 22re?
I have a 95 toyota pickup 22re 5 speed I found a 82 pickup with a 22r solid axles and 5 speed also going to look at this weekend frame rusted badly which is common but can prolly pick up for 500 was curious If I can make the 22r motor in that truck a 22re I know I'll essentially just have to swap heads but will there be any difference in the blocks? Oil pan clearance? Motor mounts? If there is anyone who can help it would be greatly appreciated mainly picking up for axles with intent to solid swap my 95 but would like to have a spare to if possible

Completely different engine .
In mid 84 they changed the block meaning all different front end engine parts.
I don`t have enough coffee yet .
I know you can swap the heads but how you have to do the timing chain eludes me right now.
Because the two blocks are different sizes .
Then I know the compression changes again due to the type of pistons and the head.
The fact your 95 has the knock sensor the 82 does not and you would have to use the 95 harness.
For all the grief and work sell or trade this engine for what you can use

I looked into converting an early block into fuel injection along time ago. I had seen some say yes and some say no. Like mentioned earlier by wyoming9, there are several differences. I have more pictures just cant find them. It might could be done but is not worth the effort in my opinion. Here is some things I remember.
No place for a Knock Sensor but that could be by passed.
No place for a Fuel Filter, could be bypassed.
The Intake mounting bolts on the head are 180 out of postion, machine shop might could make them work. I will see if I can find a picture somewhere that I know I have.
Blocks and Heads are different heights from each other meaning the Timing Covers are not interchangeable so would bet heads are not interchangeable due to Timing Chain.
Copied.
I got my Timing Chain on and had to replace the Timing Cover due to it being worn. I tried to use a early model 22r and they wont interchange. Thought I would put some info up to help others identify what they may have.
84 and older. 22r has no dimples/circles and the number "2" on it. Twistedyota got it right on the height thing, see the last picture for a good example. I also tried to mark which bolt holes for removing the timing cover on down the road when I have to do a chain again. Hope it wont burn off but it if does I tried to come up with an easier way. Never can remember which bolts they are.

22re has "6k" and dimples/circles. 85 and up.

Here is what I am talking about on the 1/8th inch height. I used a lockwasher to help show how much of a difference. This cover is 22r. Seems like the oil pump bolts were to short. Hope this will save some one some trouble. It is an early model 22r timing cover on a newer 22re block.
