Going to do a motor swap. Wanting to know what to look out for

I have an 88 toyota pickup with a totally rotten frame and a working engine, and tomorrow I'm picking up an 87 toyota pickup with a good frame and a blown engine, so I'm going to be doing a swap.

I've done a swap before, but not on one of these. One thing I'm not entirely sure about is that the truck with the blown engine is carbureted, and the engine I'll be swapping in is EFI. Is there anything I need to do as far as the engine harness goes and adapting the truck to work with the harness?

And to make this a two part post, the engine I'm going to be swapping in has a minor starting issue. On a cold start, you have to give it a little gas for like 5 seconds or so before it'll hold idle and smells really rich on start up. Once it gets a little temp in it, it idles and runs totally fine. If I start it while the engine is already warmed up, it doesn't require me to give it gas at all and fires right up.

Thanks in advance for any help. I miss my 85 4runner I used to have so I'm looking forward to putting this together.

Thats a carbuerator for you, lol after you get your good engine out remove the harness and ecu. Pull the junk one and the harness and ecu. Replace with yours. It sounds like a good weekend project.
