Piston Stop damaged piston 22re

I forgot to remove the piston stop and I rotated the crank by hand all the way through TDC. The piston stop was only slightly touching the piston and I didn't notice any additional resistance rotating through TDC.

The piston now has a slight indent (about the size of this text).

Does the piston need to be replaced?

Nope. Long as there are no cracks etc. A pic would let me say 100%.

Thanks for the quick reply. I'll try and add a picture tonight.

I was looking for cracks and didn't see any but that's looking through the spark plug hole.

Would doing a compression test, by hand rotating the crank, indicate anything?

No..I see them there when I go in...but have never had a reason to buy it.

I "listen" to my motor...it tells me whats wrong. Like a Toyota whisperer.

No. You'll never be able to crank it fast enough to tell the difference between ordinary blow-by and a crack of any size.

Or you could just save $75:
Amazon Amazon

(you ought to mike a spark plug first; I'm not sure a 14mm camera head (16mm HF) will fit easily. But you can get camera heads down to about 7mm for a little more money.)

Wow what an awesome find on the little scope. Bravo. Now he could turn it over by hand to at least tell if it is building any compression at all...it sure as hell wouldnt build any if he managed to poke a hole in a piston.

I seriously doubt there is a hole of any sort. I just thought the scope would at least set your mind at ease.
