will a manual gauge cluster work in an auto?

I have an 88 4runner 3.0 auto that appears to have a bad temp gauge, as soon as you turn the key on the temp gauge goes just below the have way mark, and I have a factory cluster out of my 87 4runner 22re 5sd that I just did an sr5 swap. So does anyone know if it will work?

I will be tearing the dash apart next weekend to see if the plugs are the same.

That is what I was thinking, but I was wondering about the overdrive light in the auto cluster
