1986 4runner cigarette lighter suddenly stopped

Hi guys, I have a 1986 4runner that just developed a problem. My cigarette lights suddenly stopped working. The PO installed 2 aftermarket outlets and wired those and the factory plugs to be constant hot. And they've worked great up until last Wednesday, now being friday I still cant figure it out. I had used them that morning and they quit by early afternoon with no warning. I've changed all the fuses I can think of, and the radio and the clock still work. its got me stumped any help?

Edit: and I've searched every toyota and non toyota forum and google. beyond belief.

Just what have you checked??

How do you know your devices did not die and not the sockets?

Check with your meter for battery voltage .

Some of the cheap Chinese plugs are so small as to cause problems.

Yup. You have a volt-meter? STOCK Cigarette lighter circuit is here:

However, you said PO made the added outlet and stock lighter socket constant hot. Therefore, he must have tapped that line somewhere and NOT to the stock lighter fuse.
IF he did it right, he should have provided an after-market fuse for it. You need to find that line and fuse, trace it back to battery, and see where you lost power.

^^^I was thinking the same OP probably wants to charge his cell phone though.

Check for those blue clamshell electric clips. If he used those and he installed something electrical without a fuse proceed to the store and get a fire extinguisher to carry in your vehicle.

Thank you for all the responses! Sorry I didn't update sooner, Been crazy busy and just started a new job. But the problem was a blown aftermarket fuse that the PO stuffed way under the dash. So easy yet complicated fix. Thanks again guys!
