What $$$ to change out long block 3.0

Question for you guys who are in the repair field.
Could you give me an idea what it would cost or how many hours labor it is to change out a long block in a 1994 Pickup 3.0 with A/C.

I have a friend doing it for me and would like to pay him accordingly.
He said whatever I can afford, but I know its a pain in the A$$.

I want to treat him right.

Thx in advance.

I'm not a mechanic but have done lots of work to my truck and friends trucks .
I would think it would 2 to 3 days for a regular guy like us. Pull old motor , switch everything over and install new . Of coarse I would do it for free for a friend . But if a friend gave me say $400 to $600 would make me be happy for my time and trouble . And yes that motor is a pain to work on . That's why I swapped in a 4.3 into my 4 runner .

It depends are you going to try and Help??

Is there anything you can do for him that he can`t??

Has he done this type of engine before??

The old engine out the new engine installed about 12 hours of real time labor .

If he is does not have a visit from Mr Murphy`s daughters one can`t get any work done with those short shorts and halter tops.

2 days of not rushing and taking time to do things correct.

All this depends on the skill level of your friend .

Then just where you live as well

Ok,
Thx guys, you have given me a good guideline to go with.
Yes, I can help him out when I am home, but work keeps me out of town alot.
He is an excellent GM ASE Cert mechanic.
He owns a Yota with a 22re, so he knows some, but the 3.0 is a different breed.

Thx Again!

Steve
