1997 Tacoma runs but dies after a few seconds

1997 Taco 2WD, 2.4L 260K

No codes, all fuses good.

Truck either just turns over, starts and runs flawlessly for a few seconds, or diesels along a few seconds and quits, starting fluid ensures starting every time and increases the running time length. Things I've or previous owners have done:

Circuit opening relay bypassed running the pump full time doesn't make difference.

New fuel filter

Fresh fuel

The only things left I can think of is the fuel rail pressure itself, fuel injectors or an ECU.

What do you guys think?

Has the throttle body and MAF been cleaned? Faulty camshaft or crankshaft position sensor? Broken tooth on crankshaft signal plate?

Possibly the fuel pump is running but not moving fuel.

I cleaned the throttle body today. The MAF was replaced with an OEM by the previous owner.

It wouldn't run at all with a bad crank sensor, and the cam and knock sensors I started with them disconnected individually and no change to the original problem. If it was a broken tooth I would think it would be a more consistent interval issue. Who knows.

I'll fuel pressure test late tomorrow, hopefully it'll just be a weak pump.

it may be a good idea to ohm out the injectors or have them tested. Wouldn't be a bad idea to get a compression reading to make sure you have a reasonably healthy motor.

^^ put a fuel pressure gauge on it. You can borrow one from the parts store. Make sure it has the banjo adapter with it.

I'll second this.
After my fuel pump went, I went through about 4 autozone pumps before finally saying "screw this" and simply ponied up for the Toyota pump. Money well spent.
