Got a 95 toy with the 22re in it. I bought another engine and installed it but realized the oil pressure gauge isn't the right one. I have the gauge type on the dash and this engine came with the sender for the idiot light type.I bought one from the local yard up the road off a Toyota,the bell type like the one I had.Hooked it up and still no reading.I can ground the wire out and it will peg the needle so I know that's good.What I need to know is does the bell type sending unit have one or two wires going to it.

 

It has one wire.

It grounds into the block so if you put sealer or teflon tape it might not work.

Or your junk yard one might be shot.

What happened to your old sending unit??

 

Thanks for the info.Thats what I have is one wire going to it.Like an idiot I took the whole engine out and kept the starter and alt but took the rest to the recycler.including the sensors.Man I wish I would have kept that stuff!

 

Go buy a new sending unit for the year of your truck tellingthe counterperson it has the gauge.

I just run a mechanical gauge a fresh engine is to important to me to trust to a electric gauge.
