Starter removal 1986 Toyota truck

I thought I asked this before, searched my posts, searched the entire forum, google etc. I'm doing it wrong.

Seems that my starter is in the engine bay tight. What is the trick to removing it from the engine bay? I've done it before... just don't recall how.

Unbolt it?.....
Drop it out the bottom. It would make things easier to unbolt the clutch slave from the bell housing. I was able to take it out through the wheel well of my 4Runner but it had a 2" bodylift

I'm pretty sure I've pulled mine out thru the top. I unbolted the top bolts from the engine bay and the bottom from underneath the truck. Unhook the wires and pull it out the top. Assuming u have a 4 cyl. I have no experience with the 3.0.

I've tried them all, there is no way to get it out. I did it on a 3.0 mh before, on this one, I think the trans cooler lines need to be unmounted and then slid out the bottom.

This is a 1986 22re Toyota truck (RV)

It took me over an hour of fighting it and trying different methods to remove it... I don't remember exactly how it came out, but I'm pretty sure I pulled it out of the top on my '85.

Once you get it out, putting the new one in is as easy as reversing the process
