Hey guys I'm hoping you can come to the rescue like you have for me in the past. My 22re has been acting the fool since I got my new to me truck back in February. I have a high idle with a shaky engine to begin with. I also have this idle creep up and drop problem as well. I have a video of the issue here:

I really could use some advice from someone who has come across this before. Here is what I have done and know so far.

1. I have a full radiator that I have burped.
2. TPS is newer and in proper ranges.
3. No vacuum leaks that I can find.
4. Engine has less than 20k on the long block.
5. Idle does not droop when the e-brake is engaged (however is still high).
6. Tried adjusting the idle down via the idle screw to no avail.
7. Engine is shaky from 1100 rpm and down.

I appreciate any help anyone can give and I have searched thoroughly however I can not anything that sounds like my issue.

Your cold start air bypass may be stuck.
Or you could have a leak in the air intake pipe between the AFM and the throttle body.
Either of these will make the engine behave as if it has a significant vacuum leak.

 

Ok so do you mean my iac? Is that something that can be cleaned or I should replace? I will double check for leaks in the air intake.

 

Yes, the IAC.
You can test to see if it is causing the problem by putting a piece of tape over the bypass opening in the front of the throttle body. Make sure the tape is stuck very very well.

You can try cleaning the valve. They are relatively expensive to replace.

 

I've heard of this tape trick. I will know once the truck has come to full operating temperature correct?
