3.4 swap, how much can I get away with?

So I live in Wyoming now, to my understandin there's no smog/emission laws whatsoever. Not gonna straight pipe it or anything, I'm not gonna totally abuse these privileges. But what I'm lookin into is what emissions parts can I do without, and what do I need for good "runability". Not really an engine expert here, I just yanked the 3.0 out of my '90 pickup last week. Got a reman 3.4 long block on it's way. And I will be goin TRD supercharged.

Can anyone give me some insight?

run a stand alone ecu and you won't need any emissions stuff

Dang, I didn't even think of putting the ecu in the equation. I'll have to look into that then. Thanks.

Might be a pretty good idea to think about the wiring before you go much further .

I think the OBII system can be a pain but once you have it dialed in nice to know just where to look for problems.

For the 3.4 some sort of code reader is a must.

I was just gonna get a conversion harness from ORS, but still, I'm just thinking about my options. I know I'll keep the stock charcoal canister, I won't run an EGR, but beyond that, I'm just not really sure. Since Cali smog is such a big problem, everything I search on google has been non-federal emissions. Even on the desert racing forums, since most of them are in California. As far as a standalone ecu goes, all I've learned so far, is that they can be a pain just to get the motor running decent. I might just have to do a lot of trial and error on this.

I don't run charcoal canister. I just pinched the line off and drilled a hole thru my gas cap for the vent. I don't run a rear o2 sensor. I don't run a cat. So there's that.
