I have a 89 Toyota pickup that i have been hauling wood in for a while now and it puts lots of stress on the rear springs obviously and Id like to see if anyone has ran air bags .
Im looking at a set of Firestone Ride-rite bags and id like to see pictures and pros and cons of people who are using these or another brand of air ride bags

I haven't got any pictures, but I don't have a camera either. Ive been running air bags for years on my 90 pickup. I put them on because at the time I was pulling my tractor and other stuff on a trailer. I really liked being able to change the ride height when loaded and they worked very well. They are still on the pickup although I seldom haul anything with the Toyota anymore, Ive got bigger trucks for that now. I believe they were Firestone brand, if memory serves. I bought them at Auto Zone. I think they have been on there for about 10yrs and I tried them here the other day and they are still holding air. Ive had good luck with them.

 

Awesome . I appreciate it . I'm a looking at the firestone brand . I want to be able to load it with wood plus a little trailer also and suspension wise she's not strong enough

Take your cap off you can gets lots more wood on.

I looked into the air bag suspension till I got the air compressor and the complete set up the cost really went up.

I went with Super Springs and just love them.

I load my truck heavy must of the time.

Yeah thought about it but its much easier to load all the wood in the canopy and go . If it was off id get one more piece of wood higher at most then id have to build a rack and worry about tying it down. . for the air compressors , i plan to just fill up before i go and have a bike pump with me to top off if it needs more

Forget the bike pump, you will be there for days. Just look for a small 12v compressor. I know harbor freight has a few that have ok revues but if all you are doing with it is filling up the bags occasionally, they would probably be fine.

 

I spilled my Coffee when I read the bicycle pump do you really think you could pump up a air bag??

If you had a compressor at Home I would say air down your tire with the truck and pump it up.

That way when you gave up you could air the tire back up.

Do you have any idea what your load of wood weighs??

I load 1000 to 12oo pounds the most I had was 2000 and it handled ok.
