Weber Fuel Leak

I started smelling fuel in the garage and discovered a small drip from the front of the new Weber. Haven't pulled it off yet but has anyone else had this problem or know what is causing it? You can actually see the drip at the end of the arrow. Thanks for any advice

Never seen that before. It looks like it's a "real" weber, Does it have the underlined W in the casting of the top? I'm curious where that leak is comming from. I never had my weber leak, other tuning issues, but never a leak. Keep us posted and good luck.

Yes it has the underlined W and a white plate on the side that says Weber with a number on it. I removed the accelerator pump (I'm guessing the plate with 4 screws) and gas poured out. Dried everything up and I'll see if the drip forms again before I take everything off. Maybe the gasket on the plate is the culprit?

Probably the screws on the accel pump weren't tight enough if the gasget looks like it should, ie. no tears or folds. I would try to track down exactly where the leak is comming from before I removed the carb.

Yeah that's what I was thinking. Both the gasket and diaphragm look fine. I'll tighten them down and start it up to fill back up with fuel and see how it goes. Thanks for the replies

Well I left the accelerator pump cover off over night to see if the drip developed and it did. Looks like a may have to remove it. Is there a pin or something on the other side of that nipple where the drip is forming? Anything that would leak?

Well I removed the carb and found the gaskets sealing the mounting plates were also soaked with fuel. I set the carb on my bench with the top removed and filled the bowl with fuel to a certain level only to watch fuel pour out the bottom through the two main holes. Checked float level only to find it was way off and my guess is letting the bowl get too full. Fixed that, and added a fuel pressure regulator and gauge. I'll update again with pics and see how she runs.

Could've been overfilling due to the fuel pressure being too high, too. Mine ran alright without one for a bit, but I think my fuel pump was pretty tired and not putting out as much pressure as it probably should've for a stock carb. I never messed with my float level, though, good to know that it's sometimes off. Good luck, you'll love it when you get it tuned right and not leaking!
