noob repairing frontend of 87 2wd pickup and having some trouble
Hey there guys I've been working on a 87 2wd pickup with a 22r in it. My dad got it abandoned from a wreckers yard awhile back and then wrecked it about two years ago. ran it up under a buick
So yea back in november I was up visiting family in DFW and looked online to see if any junkyards had parts and sure enough the south Dallas pick-n-pull had a blue 88. got everything i could off of it but was afraid I was going to have to leave the two inner fenders and core support, because the suckers were welded together and to the firewall. thankfully as I was getting ready to leave I ran into a guy with a sawzall. Best part? he didn't even charge me to do it. so with my front end in hand I headed home, cafefully measured and figured everything a dozen times then took all the electrical apart and put it out of the way and used my friends sawzall to make the same cuts as the guy had at the junkyard. well almost. But with the help of my trusty Mig I got her welded back together. I hooked most everything up without a hitch but had a few extra wires left over when I was done and haven't found a few wires I need. Namely the wipers won't work and I can't find the wiring to the horn.
I also added a battery, radiator electric fan with thermostat, deleted the clutch fan, and added new radiator hoses and an overflow. this is pretty much a new truck now and i'm wondering where I should go from here? the hood and fenders I got from the donor are blue with bad clear and the rest of the truck looks like single stage paint in a red oxide color. Factory color?

The horn wire is a green wire that comes from underneath the passenger blinker harness assembly.
The wiper wires are 4 blue wires that run along the inner fender starting by the battery area, going behind the fuse box and starter relay.
They all start in the same harness and a good starting point would be to remove inner fender and find those wires in the harness and see if they got cut off and work your way forward.
Your paint code should be on a tag on the firewall under the hood. The first digits are the paint code. I personally dont care to see a body color change without changing the color of the engine bay. Just me. To change the entire body color while painting otherwise isnt hard to do. Just got to mask off the interior and paint the jams and inner door assembly while painting all at once.

Ok well I haven't seen a green wire in that area but I'll double check. Also before it was abandoned someone had installed a push button horn. All the blue wires are hooked up to the wiper motor and with test leads the motor works. It will not work from the cab though. Like forgot to check fuses and I'll check for cut wiring.
As for the paint code I've seen that tag you posted. So thank for that I'll check it out. I don't know if I'll end up doing the engine bay or not. The color I have in mind to paint it is the magnetic dark grey that's on a lot of the new toyotas.

Here is how I repair the horn>> https://www.yotatech.com/forums/f199...l#post51724567 You might need to replace the Combo Switch. You will need to rent a wheel puller from a local parts store, and they rent it for free.

Ok guys I got the horn working. It had a separate push button in the dash but I managed to find the wire that was on the push button in the engine bay so I hooked it up to the steering wheel buttons cleaned the contacts while I had it open and hooked the other end to one side of the horn. I hooked up a fused wire from the positive terminal to the other side of the horn. And it works. Found some headlight hardware at the junkyard and got my headlights mounted. Put my blinkers on and they work but the hazards don't. Ideas? Heard there's a fuse under the hood?
Wipers don't work still found the wires but the plastic snap together piece is corroded and broken so what color wires go to which? If I can't figure out this thing soon. I'll just wire in a separate switch. I need to get this truck inspected ASAP. Is there a fuse I need to check or a relay to replace?

Well figured the hazards out last night when I was adjusting the headlights. I thought the blinkers were the lights in the fenders. Didn't realize they were the lights in the grill. And I hadn't hooked those up yet. So I hooked one up with a new bulb in it and the hazards worked.
Seems like toyota should've switched the function of those two lights. Has anyone done that?
Now just need to figure out the wipers.
