okay, my friend brought his 1988 4runner to me to try and get it running. battery was sluggish so he bought a new one. it cranks strong now. after the new battery was installed I had him crank while I watched to see if I could eyeball anything abnormal under the hood. the number 6 injector was leaking fuel. He bought new injectors for it. I installed them today along with a new cold start injector. Engine cranks and cranks but will not stay running. It will on occasion hiccup and act like its starting, but never continues to run. Starting fluid will get it moving for a few seconds then it stops. This leads me to think fuel is the issue. I guess i'll have him get a fuel pump and a fuel filter.


Any troubleshooting tips? Are there relays associated with the fuel system? I checked the fuse in the kick panel it looked good. didn't have any extras to swap them with.

 

take it to a reputable shop, it'll be cheaper than guessing.
