Leaking lines - 87 4Runner SR5 4WD

I am back in the newbie section again. On the passenger side underneath the truck there are two metal lines running from the front to back. Mine are leaking about the halfway point at the bracket that holds them to the body.

What are these lines?

I've dug around in my Haynes and FSM but can't figure out what these are.

I'll try and get a photo here later.

thanks

Coolant lines for a rear heater, if so equipped? What type of fluid is leaking?

I cleaned up the area around the leak. It's a metal bracket thingy with two rubber seals on either end. The fluid looks blackish to clear. Smells like oil but it's hard to tell. Allergies right now. I think it's coming out of the rubber seals.

Charging up the camera might not make it before sundown.

Fuel or brake is all I can think of with fluid to/from the rear. I didn't know Runners had a rear heater core. Mine doesn't. And I thought brake line was single to the rear. Which leaves fuel feed & return.

Or if an auto trans, possibly trans cooler lines?

Any other thoughts?

Either fuel or brake lines, tried following them to see where they go?

I'm thinking those are fuel lines.

But more than likely it's not the lines leaking. Probably trans or t-case seal and oil is being flung onto the bottom of the floorboards and seeping down and accumulating at that bracket. (Judging by that picture)

You would have serious gas smell if that much fuel were leaking.

It just got dark and cold so I'll have to wait until tomorrow to crawl back under there.

Flashlight and I got cold.

Yup, fuel lines. $%@#% me. Was supposed to drive tomorrow.

Is this a difficult repair once you depressurize the lines?

Like said above if it were gas it would have a strong smell. Find out what type of fluid it is before replacing parts hoping to fix it.

I don't smell gas at all. T

he two lines go back over the top of the fuel tank and disappear into some dark mess back there, need to follow those.

Not sure where they go to front just yet.

Hmm my transfer case was down to 1.5 quarts when I filled it back up a week ago. I haven't checked the levels since then.

I forgot to update this. I figured it out. I was the rear transfer case seal. I dug around in the forum here and found a detail How To with photos. Did that and it took about 1.5 hours.

No more leaking crap everywhere.

Thanks!
