headlight and ignition buzzer?

1st question:
I just bought myself a 2001 Tacoma (private sale), It doesn't have buzzer for the headlight and key left in ignition. Is this normal?
Where would the wires be located for this if it's been disconnected by previous owner?

2nd question:
Said vehicle is a California model, I live in Canada. The DRL's are disconnected, where would I find the relay or wiring to re-enable the DRL's?

2001 Tacoma TRD SR5 offroad package, extra leaf in back, Bilstein shocks, 31x10.5xR15 Duratracs, 3.4L V6 automatic tranny.

Get yourself the FSM for your 2001 Tacoma If you plan to work on this truck a better code reader and the Diagnostics section are a must.

Now Why do you think your new truck has DRL`s I have the 2000 Tacoma And mine does not .
Need them for Canada ?? Just drive with your headlights on all the time . I do this as I hate DRL`s

Have your dealer check your VIN to see if this truck has The DRL`s

You have looked to see if the DRL fuse is there?? 7.5 amps in the left inside fuse box in the right top area next to the power outlet fuse

As to the buzzer depends just what was done could be a very expensive

Does the left door switch work at all light comes on when door is open if the dome light switch is in the correct position

when the switch closes (door open) it allows the circuit to ground .

The same for the buzzer.Which seems to be part of the integration relay$$

This goes into the integration relay

This is from my 2000 EWD yours should be pretty close

If it was not such a pain I would disconnect mine in a minute

DRL's are mandatory here, granted running lights on during the day is an option, but without the light buzzer to remind me that they are on, I have drained my battery a couple of times already, becuz it's ingrained that they should turn off like DRL's. Vehicles here cannot be safetied without having DRL's.
The door light works, intermittently, don't trust that dome light, sometimes it turns off other times it doesn't. The only buzzer I get is when I start the truck and the seatbelt is disconnected.

I'm gonna take it that the FSM is the Service Manual. I'm gonna pickup a Haynes book shortly from Canadian Tire.

You really need the Toyota Factory Service manual

The haynes one is all but useless except for real simple things.

So if you have a vehicle from the mid eighties it can not be inspected in Canada??

Since I drive with lights on at all times it is a habit to turn the lights on when starting and off when turning the ignition off.

Best of luck

On a 96 4Runner-

I recently repaired my intermittent dome light- it was a question of worn contacts on jamb switch. The dome light worked on 'on' and 'off', but intermittently on 'door'. If that's your case you could start with the switch on the door jamb- it should be easy enough to take apart and check. The jamb switch would also be responsible for triggering the key in and headlight on buzzers, though they should work when the dome light is working.

Some people are disabling the buzzer by removing or destroying it. Some people are simply dealing with the wire that runs it. The former is unlikely as you have a buzzer for the seatbelt, some searching might help there.

I unplugged a little plug by the ignition lock cylinder to stop the key in buzzer in the 4Runner, but the headlight on buzzer still works.

Aren't there also DRL disable threads around here too?

Call the PO and ask nicely if he happens to know?

Yeah older vehicles can be safetied/inspected but the DRL module has to be added in order for it to pass.
