Question Instrument panel A/D lighting up

Hi. 1991 4Runner 3.0 V6 Petrol
The warning lights along the bottom of my instrument panel just cam eup with a new one.
Immediately to the right of the OverDrive a green "A/D" came up. it stayed on for about 25 minutes. I tried the Overdrive, Power Boost but no effect. I got to my garage and filled up, drove around to the workshop and it went off. (My mechanic thinks I'm seeing things now)
I've searched every link and no luck. I don't have an owners manual.
The service and wiring manual doesn't have anything.
Just replaced the big end bearings then the water pump packed it in, now I'm a bit nervous, although green lights shouldn't be impending doom.
Thanks
John

It's hurting my head just trying to figure out what "A/D" even refers to.

I was sent a copy of the Owners Manual which has a copy of the instrument cluster.
Based on this my A/D relates to the "Cruise Control Indicator Light" or "Automatic Transmission transfer fluid temperature warning light" although being green it should be the Cruise Control. Anyone any idea what the A/D signifies? It could be something similar to A and D as I was trying to read it with a fair bit of glare.

Are you sure it didn't say "4WD"? That light is green and could be mistaken for "A/D" given some glare. No idea why it might have been accidentally engaged.

Oh, I thought you were sure what you saw. But since you aren't, let me tell you. It was A/T. And actually is the A/T oil temp warning light. Despite being green.

Not possible. It was immediately to the right of the OD Off light. I turned OD off and on trying to work it out and I'm definite about placement.

Problem with it being the Auto Trans light - the owners manual shows "A/T Oil Temp" rather than just "A/T". Anyone know if some models are different?
Best guess so far though and one I will pursue.

Hmmm...

Take a bright flashlight and shine it on it. You should fairly easily be able to see whatever the light reads.

BTW, I believe you're probably right about the "A/T OIL TEMP" part. Since that's almost exactly what it reads on my 88("A.T. OIL TEMP"). Which is also amber, not green. I was just entertaining the notion that they changed it at some point.

I'll go take a look at my 90 here in a minute...see what it's got.

Solved part one of the problem. It is A/D. it is part of the cruise control because it came on when I hit the button on the steering wheel. Unfortunately the Owners Manual tells me very little about the cruise control. Why A/D ?
What do I do with it?
