My 93 3vz damper is leaking, but its missing the bolt that screws into it, thank god its the only thing wrong with it leaking. the only thing it will not unscrew off the fuel rail!
its being a PITA...P&B blaster isnt working ( i let it sit all night)
so what im basically stuck with is trying to find a correct size bolt that screws into it.
Does anyone know what size it is?
i've looked at diagrams, but i dont see a # for the bolt, just the whole dampener itself?
any help appreciated

 

The bolt's not necessary for it to function correctly. And since it's not the reason it's leaking, putting another one in there isn't going to do you any good.

 

You have a leaking diaphragm inside the pulsation damper. You need to replace the damper. Replacing the screw won't do anything.

And don't try some shade-tree bubble-gum fix. You're dealing with pressurized gasoline. That would be a horrible way to die.

 

well, i had the chance to go to my local pick a part junkyard and pull the bolt out of the only 3vz in the yard...i had about 10 mins to find it and get back out before it closed too... it didnt leak between the washers, just out of the bolt hole. just drip leak, not constant flow. now that i've screwed the bolt in, it doesnt leak, and the engine doesnt sound like its missing. duly noted, if it begins leaking again, ill know, and i'll definitely replace the whole piece..i'm not ignorant..just a tad lazy and dont like the price of the new damper...

now that i think about it again and thoroughly read that link, i probably will pull the damper from the one i found in the junkyard...

 

Rockauto has one (on close-out) for $44 (the price I paid at the dealer, which is not "full list", was $113 including the washers you'll need. Which washers are NOT available from Rockauto or anywhere else, SFAIK).

A part you find in the junkyard will be as old (or older) than the one you have now. Remember: "Pressurized gasoline."
