help on 1 ton axle swap

Haven't been on here in a while. But I'm building up a 88 toyota pickup. I got the v6 motor rebuilt and everything running like it should. But I have weird chirping sound coming from the front end somewhere. And I was pulling out a small disk for a buddy and my transmission started smoking pretty bad and first great is acting really weird now. guessing I need to throw in a new clutch kit. But back to the question I'm wanting to start doing what I originally wanted. I wanna put a 383 stroker in it. With 1ton chevy axles. I did a quick search on here and didn't find anything. So has anyone done this before that could give me any advice or where to start?

Depends on the axle you get. Assuming your going Dana 60. If your going leaf spring, youll either have to out board the springs or narrow the perches on the axle, which might be hard depending on how far up the center section you have to move the perch. Your looking for a pass side drop axle (assuming your keeping the Toyota T case, but you might want to change that if your putting a 383 in it). Tons are also wider than your truck, so keeping it streetable might take some work.

Then of course.. steering, driveshaft, gearing, breaks.. all the fun stuff. Expect to spend about 2 grand per axle to get it under your truck.

Google it and search over on pirate... This isnt new stuff here. TONS (get it?) of information on it around the web.
